Magenta Wake-up Smoothie

Magenta Smoothie (2)

Let’s just be clear. This smoothie is not sweet and innocent like the others, it is not mild and rich. It is, after all, a wake-up smoothie. I mean, look at the ingredients. You see grapefruit and lime. So what do you think happens when you take a sip? Yeah. Bam!

As beautiful as its color is, and as stimulating as its flavor is, this smoothie has another thing going for it. It is a super immune-system booster. Perfect for this time of year. Although, spring is coming, I guess… I hope… I wish.

Anyways, here’s what each of the ingredients has to offer by way of health benefits.

Green tea: chock-full of antioxidants that fight free radicals (damaging compounds in the body)

Grapefruit: vitamin C, which boosts the immune system and fights viruses

Pineapple: high in vitamins C and A, magnese (builds strong bones), and bromelain (which helps dislodge mucus and fights cough if you’ve already got a cold)

Lime: like all citrus, contains vitamin C

Raspberries: vitamin C, antioxidants, and ellagic acid (which also fights free radicals)

Yogurt: full of live cultures containing probitotics, which are “good bacteria” and support the immune system
