This shake is like a very good, old friend to me. It’s probably my very favorite shake in the whole world.
This shake has been there for me after runs, early mornings, afternoons, at all times. Easily adaptable, always delicious.
Banana for thickness, cocoa becasue chocolate ALWAYS, flaxseed oil because it’s good for you, protein powder ibid. Power-packed and quick to make. I’m even sure it would be delicious churned into ice cream! Top with chocolate sauce 🙂
CREAMY CHOCOLATE BANANA SHAKE
1 c. milk (almond or cow)
2 T. unsweetened cocoa powder
2 T. Agave Nectar
1 T. flaxseed oil
3 T. unflavored protein powder (soy or whey)
1 banana (fresh or frozen, if using frozen, use less ice)
1/2 c. (about 6 cubes) ice
Place all ingredients in a blender. Blend until smooth. Pour into a glass and enjoy!
YIELD: 1 serving
Variations: add 1 T. peanut butter. I like this version for a recovery shake after a run, peanut butter adds protein and fiber.
Add 1/2 t. espresso powder. Espresso banana chocolate, oh yeah!
